"Awaking to the Spring"

Here is a sample of one of my older artworks – “Lady in a Veil”, which I have now enhanced in computer. I have made it slightly darker, as it was taken at night.

My idea behind this artwork was to show a lady, which seemed to appear as a ghost from the past era.

Originally this artwork was created in the darkroom by sandwiching 2 colour negatives when I was still a student at the Ontario College of Art (OCA – now called OCAD).

I used to love to spend hours in the darkroom printing my black and white, as well as colour images.  Often quite surprising images would appear.

At this time computers were much less powerful and I was not using them yet to enhance my work. I always liked very much painterly effects and I was trying to create them in the darkroom, or later by painting by hand on my prints.

This artwork is available as limited editions archival prints.

Another version of this photograph was also printed on canvas and painted by hand using colour pastels. It is quite unique looking and one of the kind. I still have it and perhaps it will one day become a part of a museum collection. I certainly hope so.

If you order your photo session by the end of January and come to your photoshoot by the end of this month, your pictures could be still ready for the Valentine Day. In case you order the “Irresistible Package” you can receive pictures by this date, but it is already too late to have your album ready by the Valentine Day.

Floral Red and Green iPhone case.

•  They are high quality and made from a shatterproof polycarbonate,  have a short back and sides,  with an open face for you to use your own choice of screen protector.

•  These are not stickers, but images are printed directly into the product using a permanent printing process. It is embedded into the case itself and will not peel off or fade; the design stays as brilliant as the day it was printed.Due to the embedding of the image in the polymer, it is possible that the design will look very slightly different to the preview of the iPhone you will see.  Red Bubble say that “No returns can be accepted for this, as it is normal for the technology used, albeit very rare.”

These iPhone covers are reasonably priced, but usually cost  a bit more than some iPhone cases you can see in retail stores. I wish I could offer you a better price, but making unique looking single iPhone covers on demand, as it is done via the Red Bubble,  is quite expensive and these products are really unique looking and very durable, so I think they are worth their price.

Sabina - a sample picture from our recent boudoir photoshoot.

I have recently participated in a boudoir photography photoshoot organized by Toronto Canon DSL Users meetup group.  There were several photographers participating and we were photographing 2 great models -Sabina and Keisha Lynn. The photoshoot was done at a very nice location - beautiful Tower Suite at Gladstone Hotel in Toronto.

I wish we would have more time when taking these pictures, but I think I was still able to get some very nice photos from this session. I am attaching a few of them to this post.

 Pisces – Zodiac sign of Mystery, Feelings and Water.

As you might have noticed when  looking at my artworks, the water element related to the Zodiac sign of Pieces, is close to my heart and often featured in my work.

We are presently under the  influence of Pisces since this zodiac sign, which means Fishes in Latin, is running from February 19 to March 20.

It relates to change, movement and to feelings.

Pieces are very sensitive, emotional people.  At their best, they are very dedicated, like to sacrifice for others and are demanding little for themselves.

They like to dream and sometimes they might feel somehow disconnected from the reality. Other people could find them unrealistic or unpractical, somehow mysterious and hard to know.

In Greek mythology this sign was related to Venus and her son, Eros. It is ruled by the planets Jupiter and Neptune.

I love water and swimming in clean waters of seas, rivers and pools. I also like taking long walks along the beach, hiking beside rivers, lakes and mountain streams, or admiring waterfalls and dipping in healing springs.  In my artworks I often feature nymphs – mythological beings related to water element, or depict water in various forms.

Mermaid #1 - fantasy glamour.

Water not only cleans and purifies but is also related to emotions and even to the subconscious mind. It is one of the basic elements on our planet, and without it, there wouldn’t be any life. It is also one of the most important elements in many myths and rituals celebrated in various cultures. In particular, it relates to Spring and to a new life.

In Poland, my country of origin, there was a pagan custom of drowning so called “Marzanna” – a doll dressed in woman’s clothing. This ritual was representing the burial of winter, or perhaps of the goddess of death and it had place in spring, usually in March.   In some areas of Poland this old pagan custom is still alive today.  Water and Music, Thoughts and Feelings – How they Can Affect It.

Magic Stream #1 - digitally enhanced photography

It is also amazing that it was recently discovered that water seems to react to our feelings, thoughts and even to music and actually changes its structure.  These astonishing changes could be well observed on frozen water crystals.  Read more about this very interesting research in Dr. Masaru Emoto’s  interview .

You can also read Dr.Masaru Emoto’s  book “The Message from Water”, or watch this short YouTube video  with several samples of the water crystals and how they were affected by music, thoughts and emotions.

This can make us think to pay more attention to our own feelings and thoughts and those of others.  We should really consider to what music and other sounds we are listening, since we are mostly made of water…
