I remember as a child listening to this story read to me by my mother. Do you know this story? If not, it is really worth reading. It is a story of two children Kai and Gerda and the Snow Queen or Winter Queen. She kidnapped Kai to her cold palace and changed his heart to ice. The tears of love of his friend Gerda melted the ice in his heart and saved him. They were able to return together to their hometown, but in the meantime they noticed they become grown up. So they must have stayed with the Snow Queen much longer that they have realized. In this journey they have discovered how much power love really has and that it can remove huge obstacles.
The Snow Queen is this story was described as very beautiful, but also quite mean and cruel. I guess it was also personalizing how Andersen have seen winter and he was certainly right that winter can feel to us this way. This year in many part of the world in the North hemisphere, particularly in North America, winter is extremely harsh, so certainly it seems to live to it’s full powerful and cold image.
But is it really only so malicious and serious? Not really. Think about how beautiful the world often looks in winter. The fresh white snow makes it also looking more peaceful, ethereal and encourages people to rest and reflect. This time of the year can also be very good time to create new things and to dream about the future. Winter is also sometimes playful and creates conditions favorable for many activities not possible to do during warmer months when the snow is absent. That’s why particularity many children and sports enthusiast love it. Because of winter’s playful nature, I have chosen to depict my Winter Queen as more joyful personality.
How do you feel about winter? Do you like or hate it? Are there some special things you like to do during this time of the year? Please feel free to comment here and share this post with your friends.

Now you can buy iPhone Cases with some of my work. If you would like to see any other of my artworks on iPhone cases, please let me know and I can try to design them for you for free. Some artworks work well on iPhone cases and other don’t. Usually vertical artworks with more space above the main subject work best.
- They are high quality and made from a shatterproof polycarbonate, have a short back and sides, with an open face for you to use your own choice of screen protector.
- These are not stickers, but images are printed directly into the product using a permanent printing process. It is embedded into the case itself and will not peel off or fade; the design stays as brilliant as the day it was printed.Due to the embedding of the image in the polymer, it is possible that the design will look very slightly different to the preview of the iPhone you will see. Red Bubble say that “No returns can be accepted for this, as it is normal for the technology used, albeit very rare.”
Here you see 1 of my floral iPhone cases designs. The other one with a Red Poinsettia flower could be viewed by following this link.
I have also created 2 other designs with my fantasy fashion images. You can see one of them on the left. The other one with “Dangerous Warrioress” is available here.
To buy any of the designs you see here, please click on the images, or go to my store by following this Red Bubble store link.
To find out more about iPhone cases available via Red Bubble, please have a look at this page with more info.
These iPhone covers are reasonably priced, but usually cost a bit more than some iPhone cases you can see in retail stores. I wish I could offer you a better price, but making unique looking single iPhone covers on demand, as it is done via the Red Bubble, is quite expensive and these products are really unique looking and very durable, so I think they are worth their price.

I have just added 2 new galleries with a few more samples to my Fine Art America portfolios – Fantasy Fashion and Still Life galleries
It is now possible to buy high quality fine art prints and greeting cards with these artworks via our Fine Art America store.
In my Fantasy Fashion Gallery there , you can see a few samples of my digitally enhanced fashion images. These young women were photographed in a photo studio. Later various fantasy backgrounds were digitally created by compositing one or more of my photographs of landscapes, flowers and other natural elements. The images, depicting beautiful women surrounded by nature, are quite decorative and would make a nice décor, particularly for seating rooms, hallways or women’s bedrooms.
I have also added 3 images to my Still Life Photography gallery , also hosted on the Fine Art America server.
They were shot using an old SX-70 Polaroid camera, and then enhanced by hand drawing on the emulsion when it was still soft. This allowed me to create quite painterly effects.
You will find there the photographs of citrus fruits, visible here, and then the second photograph with pasta, tomatoes, as well as a decorative bottle of apple cider vinegar.
I think these images could help you to beautifully decorate your house or apartment. The photographs with fruits are the most suitable as kitchen décor.
All artworks in these galleries are available in a variety of sizes, and you can buy them framed or un-framed, on canvas, a well as in the form of greeting cards. In this post, I am presenting three samples from these galleries.
I will be adding more artworks to my Fine Art America Galleries, soon, so please check them out often.
Sometimes I like to play with my artwork to create other versions. I have just created a new version from my “Summer Walk”. I thought I can make the original image to look more mysterious and dramatic.
I have used NIK’s Midnight Filter and played with it blocking some areas with their control point selective tool. I think NIK is wonderful software, which provides so many options.
My original image “Summer Walk” was created by combining my fashion photograph of a model taken in the studio with my landscape image from Poland and some old illustration art. The model’s hair was changed by replacing it with the hair of another model I have photographed.
I hope you like this image. As most of the images I mention on this blog, this artwork is now available for sale directly from my rights managed Light Vision stock photography archive hosted by Photoshelter. You can get an instant quote for a variety of usage and even buy prints made from this image. Please click on the image to go directly to this artwork in my Light Vision Archive.
I am featured again in the Pro Photographers section on the Red River Papers website. This time my “Dangerous Shooter” – awards winning fantasy fashion image was selected. You can find out more about how I have created this artwork by following this link .

This image has once won the first place in Glamour Photography contest organized by the “Popular Photography” magazine. The model was photographed in the studio and the background was digitally created.
